The woman and her lover exchanged a quick glance. Everything had gone exactly as planned. The wheelchair had disappeared over the edge. The husband was gone. And with him, they believed, went the final obstacle standing between them and a fortune worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The woman dropped to her knees and screamed. "My husband! Somebody help!" Her tears looked convincing. The lover pulled out his phone and pretended to call emergency services. But then... A voice echoed through the mist. "Looking for me?" Both of them froze. Slowly, they turned toward the sound. Standing several yards behind them was the husband. Alive. Unharmed. And no longer sitting in a wheelchair. For a moment, neither of them could breathe. The woman's face turned pale. The lover staggered backward. "Impossible..." he whispered. The husband took a step forward. Then another. Without assistance. Without pain. Without the wheelchair that had supposedly carried him for years. The woman stared at him as if she were looking at a ghost. "How...?" The husband smiled. A cold smile. "The wheelchair that went over the cliff was empty." The lover's eyes widened. The husband pointed toward the rocks. "I switched places twenty minutes ago while you two were busy arguing behind the waterfall." The woman felt her knees weaken. Then came another voice. "Everything was recorded." Several men emerged from the trees. Police officers. Detectives. And behind them stood a private investigator. The lover immediately tried to run. He barely made three steps before officers tackled him to the ground. The woman screamed. "No! This is a mistake!" The detective held up a tablet. On the screen was video footage. Every conversation. Every text message. Every meeting between her and her lover. Weeks earlier, the husband had discovered messages discussing his murder. At first he refused to believe it. Then he hired investigators. And what they uncovered was worse than he had imagined. The affair. The conspiracy. The plan to inherit everything. Even the exact details of today's "romantic trip." The woman's legs finally gave out. She collapsed onto the wet ground. The husband looked at her silently. "I begged you to stop." Tears streamed down her face. "I was desperate..." "No," he replied. "You were greedy." The waterfall thundered behind them. The same waterfall that was supposed to hide a murder. Instead, it exposed one. As officers placed handcuffs on both conspirators, the woman suddenly shouted: "You're not even disabled, are you?" The husband laughed softly. The detectives exchanged amused glances. For years the world believed he had lost the ability to walk. But his recovery had begun months earlier. Only a handful of doctors knew. He kept it secret because he wanted to know who truly cared about him. The answer had shattered his heart. The woman he loved most had become the person who wanted him dead. The lover was dragged toward a police vehicle. The woman followed, crying and begging for forgiveness. Neither received an answer. As the patrol cars disappeared down the mountain road, the husband stood alone beside the waterfall. For the first time in years, he felt something unexpected. Freedom. His fortune was still intact. His company was safe. But more importantly... The two people who betrayed him had destroyed themselves. The husband looked toward the horizon. The storm clouds were finally breaking. And while his marriage had ended on the edge of a cliff... His new life was only beginning.
