Chapter 10 - THE FINAL SURPRISEShe sat up, wincing. She didn't thank me. She didn't smile. She looked at the nightstand where the burned briefcase used to be.

"You burned them," she whispered.
"I did."
"Why?"
"Because," I said, leaning in, "if you're going to take me down, I want you to be the one who does it. Not some two-bit rival like Crowe."
She looked at me, and for the first time, the "assistant" mask was gone. She was someone else—someone dangerous. She reached out and grabbed my collar, pulling me close until our foreheads touched.
