Chapter 3 - THE COMPROMISED LINEMisha’s terrified nanny arrived shortly after, drenched in rain and sobbing uncontrollably, but Mikhail’s expression remained glacial.
The nanny stammered that she had received a call on his private, secure household line ordering her to bring Misha to the east courtyard exit. The caller had rattled off the family's exact security shift rotation and threatened to harm the nanny’s young daughter if she disobeyed. To make matters worse, mall security had detained her for over an hour after receiving a malicious, false kidnapping report.
Mikhail’s men whispered confirmations into his ear. The secure house line had indeed been cloned or accessed from within the estate. Someone very close to the Volkov inner circle had engineered the entire kidnapping trap.
As Misha begged his father not to blame the frightened nanny, Mikhail finally exhaled, his gaze softening slightly. "Go home," he told her. "I know you didn't leave him on purpose."
