🚨 PART 3 – "YOU HAD A TWIN BROTHER"

The room went silent.
Even the rain outside seemed to stop.
Valeria stared at the birth certificate in her shaking hands.
Second surviving child: Unknown.
"No…" she whispered.
Her eyes lifted slowly toward Mariana.
"What does this mean?"
Mariana could barely speak.
"When your parents died in the car accident… there were two children in the vehicle."
Valeria's breathing became uneven.
"You… had a twin brother."
The words felt unreal.
A brother?
Another part of her family?
Another survivor?
"Where is he?" she asked.
Mariana's face crumpled.
"I don't know."
The answer hit her like ice water.
"You don't know?" Valeria shouted. "How can you not know?"
"Because when I found the documents years later, there was no trace of him. No name. No records."
Ernesto sat down heavily.
"This is impossible…"
Mariana shook her head.
"I thought the same thing. Until I found something else."
She pulled a small photograph from the envelope.
The picture was old and faded.
It showed two babies wrapped in blue blankets.
On the back, written in ink, were the words:
Valeria and Mateo – 3 months old.
Valeria's knees nearly gave out.
"Mateo…" she whispered.
Her twin brother had a name.
And somehow, seeing it made him feel real.
"Who took him?" she asked.
Mariana didn't answer.
Instead, she looked toward the window.
As if she were afraid.
Finally, she whispered:
"I think Don Ricardo did."
Everyone froze.
"What?" Ernesto asked.
"He kidnapped both of you after your parents' accident."
"But he only left me at the orphanage?"
Mariana nodded slowly.
"Because you were the legal heir."
"What about Mateo?"
Mariana's eyes filled with tears.
"I think he kept him."
The room turned cold.
No one dared to speak.
The implication was horrifying.
For twenty-three years, someone may have been raising her brother in secret.
Lying to him.
Using him.
Maybe even turning him against the truth.
Valeria's heart pounded.
"Then why hide him?"
Mariana looked directly at her.
"Because Mateo may know where the missing fortune is."
Silence.
"The police never recovered all of your parents' money. Millions simply disappeared after the accident."
Valeria stared at her.
"And you think my brother knows where it is?"
"No."
Mariana swallowed hard.
"I think Don Ricardo believes he knows."
Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
Everyone jumped.
Three slow knocks.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
The exact same pattern as before.
Mariana's face turned white.
"No…" she whispered.
Ernesto frowned.
"Who could that be?"
Nobody moved.
Then another knock came.
Louder this time.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Diego suddenly gripped his wheelchair.
"Mom…"
Mariana stood up.
Her hands were shaking.
"They found us."
"What are you talking about?" Valeria asked.
But before Mariana could answer—
BANG!
The front door burst open.
A man stepped inside.
Tall.
Wearing a black suit.
Gray hair.
Cold eyes.
And a smile that made Valeria's blood run cold.
She knew that face.
Every child in the neighborhood knew that face.
Don Ricardo.
The old man everyone trusted.
The man who had supposedly moved away years ago.
He slowly removed his hat.
Then he smiled.
"Good evening."
Nobody spoke.
He looked directly at Valeria.
"My, my…"
He sighed.
"You look exactly like your mother."
Mariana stepped in front of her daughter.
"Stay away from her!"
Don Ricardo chuckled.
"After twelve years, you're still trying to protect her?"
Ernesto clenched his fists.
"You need to leave."
But the old man ignored him.
Instead, he looked at Diego.
Then at Valeria.
Then back at Mariana.
"You shouldn't have come back."
Fear spread through the room.
Mariana's voice trembled.
"What do you want?"
The old man's smile disappeared.
"I want what's mine."
"It was never yours."
"Oh?" he said softly.
"Then tell me… where is the key?"
Mariana froze.
The key?
Valeria frowned.
"What key?"
Don Ricardo slowly stepped forward.
"The key your father hid before he died."
Valeria's heart skipped a beat.
"My father?"
"Your real father."
Silence.
"He left something for you, little girl."
The old man's eyes became dark.
"And I've spent twenty-three years looking for it."
Valeria's hands shook.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
He smiled.
"You will."
Then he reached into his pocket.
And pulled out a photograph.
The moment Valeria saw it, she stopped breathing.
It showed a young man.
Around twenty-three years old.
Dark hair.
Brown eyes.
A face…
identical to hers.
Don Ricardo held up the picture.
"You've been asking about your brother."
His smile widened.
"Would you like to meet him?"
The room froze.
Then he delivered the words that changed everything.
"Because Mateo works for me."
Mariana gasped.
Diego nearly fell from his wheelchair.
And Valeria felt the ground disappear beneath her feet.
Her twin brother wasn't missing.
He was alive.
And he had been raised by the man who destroyed her family.
But the worst part was yet to come.
Don Ricardo's smile became colder.
"He doesn't know you exist."
He paused.
"And tomorrow…"
he looked directly into Valeria's eyes.
May you like
"...he's coming here to kill you."
