Chapter 9 - The Fall of the San Marco EmpireThe clock on the dashboard of the lead Mercedes read 11:45 PM as the convoy of six armored SUVs drifted silently through the wrought-iron gates of the Moretti estate. Perched on a high cliff overlooking the crashing waves of the North District, the sprawling Mediterranean-style villa looked like a fortress of untouchable wealth.

Inside, Don Vincente Moretti and fifty of his most elite syndicate enforcers were waiting, heavily armed and barricaded behind reinforced steel doors and bulletproof glass. They thought they had set a trap for Calcio Benevventi.
They were catastrophically wrong.
Boom.
The front oak doors of the villa didn't just open—they were blasted off their hinges by a synchronized explosive charge that shook the entire foundation of the mansion.
Before the smoke could even clear, Stephano and Marco led a wedge of shadow operatives into the grand foyer, their automatic weapons spitting controlled, deadly fire. Glass shattered, crystal chandeliers rained down in a shower of sparkling shards, and Moretti’s elite guards dropped like tenpins.
From the shadows stepped Calcio.
He didn't rush. He walked through the chaos like the Grim Reaper taking an evening stroll, his tailored suit immaculate, his face carved out of unrelenting ice.
Upstairs in the private study, Don Moretti frantically slammed his fists onto his desk, screaming into a radio. "Hold the stairs! Kill him! Kill Benevventi right now!"
The study door flew open. But it wasn't his guards walking through.
It was Calcio.
Moretti scrambled backward, grabbing a gold-plated revolver from his desk drawer and aiming it with a shaking hand straight at Calcio’s chest. "Stay back! Stay back or I swear to God—"
Calcio didn't even slow down. He closed the distance in two strides, reached out with blinding speed, and clamped his hand around the barrel of the revolver, shoving it upward just as Moretti pulled the trigger.
Bang.
The bullet shattered the ceiling fresco.
With a brutal twist of his wrist, Calcio disarmed Moretti, sending the gold revolver clattering across the marble floor. He grabbed Moretti by the silk collar of his robe and slammed him hard against the oak bookshelf, sending hundreds of leather-bound books crashing down around them.
Moretti choked for air, his face turning purple, his hands clawing helplessly at Calcio’s iron grip.
"You... you're a monster," Moretti wheezed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
"No, Vincente," Calcio whispered right into his ear, his voice freezing the room. "I'm just a uncle who protects his family."
With one final, effortless shove, Calcio tossed Moretti across the room into the mahogany desk, where the old syndicate boss slumped unconscious onto the floor.

Calcio turned around, adjusted his cuffs, and looked at Marco, who stood at the doorway with a secure satellite phone.
"It's done," Calcio said coldly. "Burn the estate to the ground. Let the city know the Benevventi dynasty has reclaimed its crown."
