Julian and Celeste stepped off the aircraft first, wrapped in bespoke wool coats, already laughing about a charity gala they had to attend that evening. They walked like people who owned the horizon.
I followed a few paces behind, carrying my own handbag, feeling a strange, quiet calm settle over my bones.
As we walked toward the private terminal exit, three unmarked black SUVs suddenly pulled onto the tarmac, blocking our chauffeured limousine. Car doors flew open, and federal agents in tactical windbreakers flooded the runway, led by Marcus Vance.
