Chapter 5 - THE MIDNIGHT ESCAPEThe struggle was brief but brutal. Jean-Pierre, fueled by twenty years of regret and the raw, protective instinct of a father who had just met his children, slammed Marcus against the heavy bookshelf.

He didn't care about his fortune. He didn't care about the logistics firm. He grabbed Hugo, Leia, and Chloe, sprinted through the secret service passage behind the fireplace, and burst out into the snow-covered garden.

His private jet was waiting at Farnborough.

"Where are we going, Papa?" Chloe asked, her small hand gripping his coat.

"Somewhere they can't find us," Jean-Pierre said, his eyes scanning the horizon for the dark figures he knew were closing in.

He had forty-eight hours to expose the corruption in his company, save his children, and find out if Amelia was truly gone—or if she was waiting for him.

But as they reached the car, he saw a woman standing by the gate.

She was thin, her hair cut short, her face scarred—but those green eyes were unmistakable.

Amelia.

She wasn't dead. She was standing there, holding a gun leveled directly at the driver.

"Jean-Pierre," she whispered. "Get in the car. We have a logistics empire to burn."
