Chapter 6 - The Siege of the EstateThe massive oak doors at the main entrance blew inward in a cloud of splintered wood and white smoke.

Flashes of tactical lights cut through the haze as dozens of federal agents in heavy tactical gear swarmed into the ballroom, shouting orders and forcing every mercenary to drop their weapons instantly.

“Federal Bureau of Investigation! Nobody move!”

At the head of the tactical unit walked Agent Marcus Vance—a younger, sharp-eyed federal investigator who looked directly at Victor with cold fury in his eyes.

“It’s over, Uncle Victor,” Agent Marcus announced, holding up an encrypted federal warrant. “Warrants for corporate espionage, embezzlement, obstruction of justice, and the 1996 attempted assassination of Arthur Vance. You’re done.”

Victor stared at the swarm of federal agents, realizing in one horrifying second that his entire empire had dissolved into dust. He lunged blindly toward Evelyn, pulling a small derringer pistol from his inner pocket. “If I’m going down, I’m taking you all with me!”

Before Victor could level the tiny gun, a small, flying missile crashed directly into his shins.

It was me.

I had sprinted up the hidden staircase behind my grandfather, my adrenaline surging past my fear. I slammed straight into Victor’s knees with all the force of a starving nine-year-old fueled by pure rage.

Victor tripped backward, his pistol flying from his grip and clattering across the marble floor.

Agent Marcus tackled Victor to the ground, slamming plastic zip-ties around his wrists while three other agents swarmed on top of him.

The ballroom erupted into chaotic cheers from the surviving elites who had crawled out from under the tables, realizing the nightmare was finally over.

Evelyn broke free from her guards, dropped to her knees for the second time that night, and pulled me tight into her arms, burying her face in my messy hair.

“You’re safe,” she sobbed, kissing my forehead. “You’re safe now, my darling.”
