Chapter 10 - THE PROMISE OF CHRISTMASA year later, the lobby of the Carter Grand Hotel was decorated for Christmas. It was grand, but it was warm. Jennifer stood at the top of the grand staircase, looking down at the lobby.

Alice was running toward the massive tree, laughing. Matthew followed her, swinging her up into his arms.

He looked up, meeting Jennifer’s gaze. He wasn't the distant, untouchable billionaire anymore. He was the man who had folded a paper airplane.

He didn't just become Alice's "daddy"—he became the home she had been waiting for all along. As the hotel staff cheered and the snow fell softly outside the glass doors, Jennifer knew that the best decisions in life aren't made in boardrooms, but at a diner table over a plate of chocolate pancakes.
