Chapter 6 - THE TRUTH COMES TO LIGHTAn hour later, Marcus was sitting in my living room while the bound operative was locked in the secure storage vault downstairs. Lily was fast asleep in my guest room, exhausted from the trauma, clutching a stuffed bear I had bought her that afternoon.
"You’ve kicked a sleeping dragon, Rob," Marcus said, tossing a thick dossier onto my glass coffee table. "Richard Vance found out that Lily’s DNA was flagged in an international missing persons database when you ran her dental records through the private clinic yesterday. He realized someone was looking for her. He sent his clean-up crew to grab her before you could connect the dots."
"He thought she died in that yacht explosion six years ago," I said, staring at the file containing the names of Lily’s real parents—Claire and Julian Sterling. "When she survived, someone inside the estate hid her in the foster system to keep her from inheriting the Sterling trust. And Richard planned to control the empire forever."
