Chapter 7 - THE WAREHOUSE AT PIER 42The rain had turned into a thick, choking coastal fog by the time Alexander’s convoy of unmarked SUVs slid to a halt outside the rusted corrugated-metal walls of Warehouse 14 on Pier 42.

The salty air smelled of diesel, rotting kelp, and damp concrete.

"Perimeter is secured," the lead federal marshal whispered, crouching beside Alexander near a side access door. "We have thermal imaging confirming at least two armed combatants inside the front office, and one unconscious or restrained individual in the central holding bay."

Alexander’s jaw tightened. "Move in."

Bang!

The heavy metal side door blew inward under a controlled explosive breach.

"Federal agents! Down on the ground! Drop your weapons!"

Shouts echoed through the cavernous industrial space, followed by the clatter of tactical gear and the dull thud of bodies hitting concrete. Within thirty seconds, the gunfire was over. Two private security contractors hired by Marcus Vance were cuffed and pinned against the floor.

Alexander didn't stop for them. He sprinted past the stacks of shipping crates toward the central holding bay, where a single halogen work light illuminated a wooden chair.

Tied securely to the chair, her head slumped forward, was a woman with dark blonde hair, wearing a torn flannel shirt.

"Rachel," Alexander gasped, dropping to his knees beside her.

He frantically pulled a pocketknife from his coat and sliced through the thick plastic zip-ties binding her wrists and ankles.

Rachel groaned softly, her eyelids fluttering open. Her hazel eyes—eyes that looked so much like the girls’—focused hazily on Alexander’s face.

For a terrifying second, she flinched, pulling back. "Who... who are you?"

"I'm Alexander," he said gently, keeping his hands open and non-threatening. "David’s twin brother. I came for you."

Tears spilled instantly down Rachel’s bruised cheeks. The sheer weight of three years of relentless terror, hiding, and survival finally broke. "You... you got my message. The phone..."

"The girls called me," Alexander whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "They saved us all."
