Chapter 10 - THE NEW EMPEROR OF CHICAGOThree days later, in a secluded, sun-drenched safehouse overlooking the cliffs of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, General Arthur Vance sat at a mahogany desk, pouring himself a glass of scotch with trembling hands.

The news headlines had been scrubbed clean—a "gas leak explosion" at the Kane Tower, according to the official reports. No bodies found. No survivors mentioned. Vance thought he had won. He thought the ghost was finally laid to rest.
Then, the television screen mounted on the wall suddenly flickered.
The secure news broadcast cut out. A blank, matte-black screen appeared, replaced instantly by a single, glowing amber crest—the emblem of the Kane Syndicate.
Vance froze, his glass halfway to his mouth.
The screen split. On the left side sat Victor Kane, impeccably dressed in a tailored charcoal suit, swirling a glass of bourbon. On the right side, resting its massive head calmly on Victor’s lap while staring directly into the camera lens with piercing amber eyes, sat Titan.
“General Vance,” Victor’s voice echoed smoothly through the secluded study, rich with quiet menace. “You spent millions trying to bury a soldier who refused to die. You blew up a building to silence a witness.”
Vance lunged for his secure desktop phone, desperately dialing the emergency military override code, but the line was completely dead. Static hissed through the receiver.
On the television screen, Victor leaned forward, his amber eyes locking onto the camera with terrifying clarity.
