Chapter 9 - The Final CollapseWithin forty-eight hours, the financial collapse of the Geneva council was absolute.

By sunrise, automated transfers had funneled ten billion dollars of illicit syndicate funds directly into public infrastructure foundations, veteran rehabilitation programs, and local animal rescue shelters across the country—leaving the international council completely bankrupt and exposed to global law enforcement agencies.
Vance was indicted on federal treason and racketeering charges, facing life in a maximum-security prison with no possibility of parole.
Marco was quietly reinstated as underboss under strict new terms—forever reminded of who held the true power in the syndicate.
And back at the downtown loft, the rain had finally stopped, replaced by the warm, golden light of an autumn afternoon breaking over the harbor.
Tony sat on the leather sofa, his right arm resting comfortably out of the sling, flipping through the pages of a newspaper detailing the sudden dismantling of the international financial cartel.
At his feet, Bruno lay stretched out across the Persian rug, fast asleep, his scarred hip no longer bothering him in the warmth of the room.
Detective Miller walked into the loft, carrying two cups of black coffee, setting one on the coffee table before taking a seat in the armchair opposite Tony.
"The Feds are calling it the biggest financial sting in modern history," Miller said, taking a sip of his coffee. "They're giving me a commendation. Promotion to captain. They think I cracked the case single-handedly."
Tony chuckled softly, taking a sip of his own coffee. "And what about the dog?"
Miller looked down at Bruno, who lazily opened one brown eye, let out a soft huff of air, and went right back to sleep.
"I tried putting in an official request to adopt him into the police K9 unit," Miller smiled, shaking his head. "The department ran his background check. Found out he was originally rescued from an illegal fighting ring two years ago before he wandered into your orbit."

Tony’s expression softened, a rare, genuine warmth entering his eyes.
"He wasn't rescued by a ring, Detective," Tony said quietly, reaching down to gently stroke the soft fur behind Bruno's ears. "He just finally found someone stubborn enough to stay in the car with him."
