Chapter 4 - THE MIDNIGHT EVICTION"You're out of your mind!" Richard yelled, his face turning beet red as panic began to override his arrogance. "I didn't sign any relinquishment papers! I’m the child’s legal father!"

Luka pulled a single sheet of paper from his inner pocket, unfolding it slowly under the warm penthouse lights. It was the original birth certificate from the hospital.
Where Richard’s name should have been in the secondary verification block, a bold, dark signature stood out in black ink: Luka Moretti.
"According to New York Family Code Section 42," Luka recited smoothly, stepping closer to the trembling executive, "if a legal spouse publicly abandons a mother and newborn child within twelve hours of birth, verbal and physical renunciation constitutes immediate forfeiture of guardianship. Furthermore..."
Luka tossed a thick legal binder onto the coffee table right in front of Valerie.
"...federal tax fraud, corporate embezzlement, and the arson report regarding Dr. Vance’s laboratory fire in 2021 have just been filed with the Manhattan District Attorney's office," Luka finished.
Valerie gasped, dropping her glass as well. "Richard... what is he talking about?! What arson?!"

"Shut up, Val!" Richard screamed, his voice cracking with terror. He looked at Luka with wide, bloodshot eyes. "You're bluffing. Who are you?! Are you working with her family's old lawyers?"
"I am the man who owns the building you're standing in, Richard," Luka replied coldly. "Every wall, every window, every share of stock you traded illegally through Moretti Holdings. You're bankrupt. And by sunrise, you won't even have a suit to wear to court."
