Chapter 8 - THE TRAP CLOSESBefore Ethan could dismiss the board, his private cell phone buzzed violently on the wood.

An unknown caller ID.

He answered immediately, standing up from his chair so fast his leather executive seat rolled back and slammed against the glass wall. "Talk to me."

"Well, well, well," a smooth, arrogant voice echoed through the speaker. Jonathan Vance. "I hear you've been taking unauthorized field trips to Bellevue, Mr. Seo. Inspecting properties that don't belong to you."

Ethan’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles turned translucent. "If you touch her, Jonathan, I will personally dismantle your entire conglomerate piece by piece until you're begging on the streets of Wall Street."

A cold, mocking chuckle came from the other end. "Such harsh words, Ethan. Especially when you're in no position to bargain. You see, your sweet little ex-wife didn't know who bought the mortgage on her cozy little craftsman home last month. She didn't know that every utility bill, every grocery delivery, every credit check was routed through my private portfolio."

Ethan’s heart slammed against his ribs. "What do you want?"

"Simple," Vance purred. "Sign over your controlling voting shares in Crestline Automotive to my board by midnight tonight. Do that, and I’ll cancel her mortgage debt, clear her record, and let her and the little bastard live in peace. Refuse, and I’ll evict them by sunrise, freeze her bank accounts for 'investigation of fraud,' and make sure she never sees custody of that boy again."
