Chapter 6 - THE RED HOK RECKONINGGhost hit Vance like a freight train.

The heavy wire cutters flew from the mobster's hand as he crashed backward against the tiled wall, the dog's powerful jaws locking onto his forearm with bone-crushing force. Vance screamed, his expensive suit tearing as blood sprayed across the pristine white tiles.

"Get it off me! Shoot her! Shoot her!" Vance shrieked, thrashing wildly.

Before Zara could even blink, heavy footsteps thundered down the hallway. Three of Vance’s elite mercenaries rounded the corner, their assault rifles raised, screaming orders as they saw their boss pinned to the floor.

Zara spun, her pistol barking twice.

Crack. Crack.

The lead mercenary dropped instantly, a clean round through his tactical vest. The second guard scrambled for cover behind the doorframe, returning fire. Bullets chewed up the concrete wall inches from Zara’s head, showering her in stinging gray dust.

She ducked low, reloading her magazine with practiced speed, but the odds were overwhelming. Two against one, and they were closing in.

Suddenly, a heavy metallic clang echoed from behind her.

Vincent, despite being bound to the chair, had used his weight to slam the heavy iron structure backward against a steam pipe valve. A loud hiss filled the room as a thick, scalding jet of high-pressure steam blasted out from the wall directly into the hallway, catching the remaining mercenaries square in the chest.

They screamed, dropping their weapons as they scrambled backward down the corridor, badly burned and thoroughly routed.

Zara didn't waste a second. She rushed forward, using her pocket knife to slice through the heavy zip-ties binding Vincent’s wrists and ankles.

The moment he was free, Vincent stood up, shaking off the pain, his eyes burning with a cold, terrifying fury. He walked over to where Vance was pinned beneath Ghost’s massive paws.

"You wanted my empire, Salvatore?" Vincent whispered, his voice dangerously low. "It's yours. All of it."
