Chapter 6 - BRUNO’S WRATHFrom the dark end of the pier, the muffled roar of a high-performance engine shattered the night air.

The headlights of the Maybach suddenly flashed on—not low beams, but blinding, high-intensity high beams that cut through the darkness like twin laser swords, directly sweeping across the pier and blinding Sarah’s men.

And right behind the wheel... or rather, pressing his heavy paw down on the custom floor pedal while lunging through the open driver’s window... was Bruno.

We had spent years training for tactical vehicle extraction. When I whistled, the dog knew exactly what to do.

The heavy Maybach surged forward at fifty miles an hour, driverless yet completely controlled by the sheer weight of a hundred and twenty pounds of enraged muscle leaning hard against the accelerator.

"Shoot the car! Shoot the dog!" Sarah shrieked in panic, her voice cracking as the massive black sedan barreled straight toward her position.

Gunfire pelted the bulletproof glass of the Maybach, leaving white starburst patterns across the windshield, but the car didn't stop. It roared down the concrete stretch like an unstoppable freight train.

The gunmen scattered like bowling pins, diving left and right to avoid being crushed under the two-ton luxury vehicle.

I vaulted up from behind my piling, drawing a bead in the strobing light of the oncoming headlights.

Bang. Bang.

Two of Sarah’s enforcers dropped their rifles and hit the ground, clutching their shoulders. The rest broke formation, completely disoriented by the blazing lights and the terrifying spectacle of a giant dog piloting a luxury car straight at them.

The Maybach slammed brakes automatically as its proximity sensors engaged, sliding sideways in a cloud of burning rubber and screeching metal, coming to a dead stop right between Sarah and her remaining guards.

The driver's side door flew open, and Bruno leaped out, his fangs bared, his amber eyes locked entirely on one target.

Sarah.
