Chapter 3: The Broadcast That Destroyed an Empire

Every screen.
Every phone.
Every television.
Every billboard connected to the government's emergency network flickered to life at exactly 9:17 PM.
Millions of people stopped what they were doing.
A single message appeared on the screen.
CLASSIFIED FILE 001 — RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC.
Colonel Marcus Vale felt the blood drain from his face.
"No..."
He lunged toward the nearest monitor.
"Shut it down!"
Engineers slammed their keyboards.
Nothing happened.
The system no longer belonged to them.
It belonged to whoever had planned this for years.
Then the video began.
The footage was grainy, dated nearly fifteen years earlier.
A young Dr. Adrian Ross walked through an underground laboratory carrying a sleeping little girl wrapped in a white blanket.
Behind him followed Colonel Vale... younger, calmer... still wearing the same cold expression.
The timestamp froze every heart in the room.
Fifteen years ago.
Impossible.
Evelyn was only eight.
The old scientist collapsed into a chair.
"We destroyed those recordings..."
"We burned every copy..."
Evelyn's soft voice echoed through the speakers.
"No."
"You burned the lies."
"I kept the truth."
The video continued.
Dr. Ross gently placed the sleeping girl inside a medical chamber.
He kissed her forehead.
"If anything happens to me..."
"...promise me she'll never become one of them."
Colonel Vale answered without emotion.
"I promise."
The room fell silent.
Then another figure stepped out of the shadows.
The President's National Security Advisor.
A man the entire country trusted.
He smiled.
Then calmly handed Colonel Vale a syringe filled with glowing blue liquid.
"Inject her."
Dr. Ross spun around.
"What are you doing?"
The advisor laughed.
"Saving humanity."
Within seconds, armed soldiers flooded the laboratory.
Gunfire erupted.
Scientists screamed.
Glass shattered.
The camera fell sideways...
But it never stopped recording.
The last thing visible before the image cut to black...
...was Colonel Vale injecting the little girl himself.
Back in the present...
The entire control room stared at him.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody breathed.
Colonel Vale whispered,
"I didn't have a choice..."
But the old scientist slowly shook his head.
"You always had a choice."
Outside the facility, thousands of protesters had already gathered.
The leaked video spread faster than any story in history.
News stations interrupted every broadcast.
Social media exploded.
Government officials began resigning live on television.
Project EVE was no longer a rumor.
It was real.
And the entire world had just witnessed its birth.
Deep beneath the facility...
Evelyn stood inside a forgotten chamber no one knew still existed.
Rows of glass capsules stretched into the darkness.
Hundreds of them.
Some were empty.
Some were broken.
Some...
Still had children sleeping inside.
Each capsule carried a number.
E-017.
E-042.
E-118.
E-301.
Evelyn slowly touched one of the frozen glass doors.
A little boy inside opened his eyes.
Then another.
And another.
One by one...
The children awakened.
Not crying.
Not confused.
Waiting.
As if they had been expecting her.
A mechanical voice echoed through the chamber.
AUTHORIZED USER IDENTIFIED.
WELCOME HOME... DIRECTOR EVELYN.
The little girl froze.
"Director?"
The chamber lights illuminated a final capsule at the end of the room.
Unlike the others...
It wasn't locked.
Inside stood an old man with silver hair.
Alive.
Healthy.
Smiling.
Dr. Adrian Ross.
Evelyn's eyes filled with tears.
"Dad..."
He looked at her with heartbreaking sadness.
Then slowly raised one finger to his lips.
"Don't call me that."
The little girl's smile disappeared.
"Why?"
His answer shattered everything she believed.
"Because..."
May you like
"...I'm the one who created you."
