Chapter 7 - Confrontation in the Storm"Now!" I ordered.

My security operatives threw flashbang grenades down into the gallery. Blindening light and deafening explosions shattered the glass walls of the observation deck. The high-profile bidders shrieked in terror, scattering toward the emergency exits as smoke filled the room.

Marcus Sterling’s personal bodyguards drew their weapons, but my team dismantled them with lethal precision within seconds.

I sprinted down the metal staircase, smashing through the glass door of the central laboratory. Marcus Sterling turned, his eyes widening in shock as he looked down the barrel of my gun.

"Nathan..." Marcus gasped, stepping back against the control console. "You... you shouldn't be here. You were supposed to be broken, retired in your Greenwich mansion!"

"Where is she, Marcus?" I growled, grabbing him by his lapels and slamming him violently against the glass chamber. "Twelve years! You stole twelve years of my life! You stole my son, and you tortured Clara!"

"I created a legacy!" Marcus spat, blood dripping from his lip. "You were going to die of cancer, Nathan! Your company was going to fracture! I took what was yours and turned it into the ultimate genetic commodity!"

Behind him, the monitors connected to Clara’s bed began to beep wildly. Her eyes fluttered open. Through the heavy sedatives, her gaze found mine.

"Nathan...?" she whispered, her voice barely a thread of sound.

"I'm here, Clara," I choked out, tears stinging my eyes. "I'm here."

Marcus sneered, reaching subtly into his jacket coat for a remote detonator. "If I can't harvest your empire, Nathan, neither of us leaves this building alive!"

Before he could thumb the button, Evelyn stepped into the lab, bringing the butt of her pistol down hard across the back of Marcus’s head. Sterling collapsed to the floor, unconscious.

"He always talked too much," Evelyn said grimly, kicking the detonator away across the floor.
