Chapter 7 - The Siege of Briarwood LaneRed and blue strobe lights flashed violently through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the study, painting the walls in frantic crimson and cobalt streaks.

“FBI! FEDERAL WAGENTS! OPEN THE DOOR OR IT WILL BE BREACHED!”

Gloria’s face drained of color in an instant. The untouchable matriarch of Dublin finally looked human—panicked, exposed, and cornered.

"What did you do?" Gloria hissed, lunging toward me.

Before she could reach the desk, the heavy mahogany study doors exploded inward off their hinges. Armed tactical officers in full black SWAT gear flooded the room, their assault rifles raised, lasers painting red dots across the walls.

"DOWN ON THE GROUND! HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD! NOW!" a commanding voice roared.

Ethan, who had just managed to stagger into the doorway from the hallway, dropped to his knees instantly, sobbing hysterically as zip-ties were locked around his wrists.

Gloria stood frozen, her eyes wide with disbelief as an agent grabbed her arms and forced her face down onto the Persian rug.

"Sarah Miller?" a tall, badge-wearing federal investigator asked, stepping forward through the smoke of the breached door.

"I'm here!" I gasped, tears finally breaking free down my cheeks. "My daughter! She's in the underground bunker behind the guest house! Judge Thomas Vance is down there with her!"

The lead investigator didn't hesitate. He barked orders into his shoulder radio, and three tactical operatives sprinted toward the rear courtyard.

"You're safe now, Sarah," the agent said, gently placing a warm hand on my shoulder. "We’ve had this family under federal surveillance for six months based on an anonymous tip from Julianne’s former legal counsel. Your call from the laundry room tonight gave us the active exigent circumstances we needed to raid."

I collapsed into a chair, the adrenaline finally wearing off, leaving my entire body shaking uncontrollably. Julianne. The first wife hadn't given up; she had spent years planting seeds of destruction from inside the psychiatric facility, waiting for someone brave enough to crack the foundation.
