Chapter 10 - The Legacy of the Spedaro EmpireSix months later.

The newly rebuilt Spedaro estate stood gleaming against the autumn twilight, its reinforced iron gates standing tall, the stone walls draped in rich, vibrant ivy. Inside, the grand library was no longer a place of smoke, dust, and hidden dangers; it was filled with the soft, warm glow of brass lamps, the rich scent of leather-bound volumes, and the quiet crackle of a roaring fire.
At the large mahogany desk where it all began, Anna Lisa Vincenzi-Spedaro sat reviewing international architectural bids for a new community center in South Philadelphia—funded entirely by the Spedaro Foundation.
The heavy double doors swung open without a sound.
Cedric rolled into the room, no longer wearing the heavy tactical gear or the dark, defensive armor of a warlord at war. He wore a simple, dark cashmere sweater, looking every bit the master of his domain, but his eyes were relaxed, warm, and entirely fixed on his wife.
In his lap, he didn't hold a gun or an encrypted ledger.
He held a small, silver tray carrying two cups of steaming espresso.
"You've been working for six hours straight," Cedric said, his voice smooth and low as he rolled up beside her desk and placed a cup beside her papers. "If you keep this up, your friend Mira from federal prison is going to start looking like a lazy role model."
Anna laughed, looking up from her blueprints, her eyes dancing with amusement. She leaned back in her chair, stretching her arms above her head.
"Mira is currently learning how to weave baskets in a maximum-security facility in upstate New York," Anna remarked, taking a sip of the dark, rich coffee. "I think she has plenty of time to contemplate her life choices."
Cedric reached out, his strong, calloused fingers wrapping gently around her hand, pulling her fingers away from the papers.
"And you?" Cedric asked, his dark eyes searching her face with quiet intensity. "Any regrets about the debt you married into?"
Anna smiled, standing up from her desk and walking around to the front of his wheelchair. She didn't hesitate. She knelt right down on the Persian rug between his knees, resting her hands on his shoulders, looking straight into the eyes of the man who had bought her life, lied to her protect her, and ultimately given her everything.
"Not a single one, Mr. Spedaro," Anna whispered, leaning up to press her lips softly against his. "Though I expect you to make it up to me with a proper, unscripted honeymoon in Italy before the winter snow hits."

Cedric’s arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against him with a strength that could anchor a ship.
"Consider it done, little bird," Cedric murmured against her hair, his dark eyes burning with a love as deep and permanent as the empire they had built from the ashes. "After all... I never promise what I can't deliver."
