Chapter 1 - The Shattered SilenceThe heavy mahogany door of the dressing room seemed to close in on us, trapping the suffocating tension inside. Richard’s hands were shaking as he clutched the small, tarnished silver pendant. His knuckles were bone-white.

"What nonsense is this?" Vanessa shrieked, her voice cracking with sudden, desperate panic. She forced a harsh, nervous laugh, stepping between Richard and me. "Are you out of your minds? A little gold-digger drops a cheap trinket, and suddenly you’re all playing make-believe? Richard, fire her this instant! She’s manipulating you!"

Richard didn't look at her. His eyes remained locked on the tiny engraved initials inside the pendant: E.C. & M.M.

"Old Thomas," Richard whispered, his voice trembling as he addressed the elderly groundskeeper leaning against the doorframe. "Tell me you didn't just say what I think you said."

Thomas stepped into the room, ignoring Vanessa completely. He looked at my face, tracing the tear-streaked skin, the chopped-off locks scattered on the marble, and the deep-set eyes that had haunted this estate for decades.

"Mr. Richard, look at her jawline. Look at the way she holds her hands," Thomas said, his voice thick with emotion. "It’s spitting image of Miss Eleanor. Twenty-three years ago, when the nursery fire happened and Miss Eleanor disappeared... everyone thought she perished. But the body in that burnt wing was never positively identified. Your father hushed it up to protect the family name."

Vanessa lunged forward, her face contorted with rage. "You're senile! Both of you! She planned this! She bought a fake necklace just to steal everything we built!"

"Shut up, Vanessa," Richard roared, turning on her with a fury that made even his wife recoil. It was a roar that shook the very foundations of the Caldwell mansion.
