Chapter 3 - THE MEDICAL WARI called the head specialist, Dr. Aris, to the house. He arrived with his usual pitying look, but it vanished the moment he saw Julian reach out and grasp the rabbit’s ear.

"This shouldn't be happening," Aris muttered, checking his notes. "His neurological pathways were closed."

"They weren't closed," I said, my voice cold. "They were waiting for a different kind of stimulation. You all treated him like a patient. Maisie treated him like a person."
