Chapter 10 - The Last Cup of CoffeeTwo weeks later, the Blue Lantern Diner reopened.

The front windows were brand new, gleaming under the afternoon sun. The interior had been deep-cleaned, the red booths reupholstered in rich, dark leather, and the old neon sign humming with a bright, steady blue light.

Russ Danner had mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a signed deed transferring full ownership of the diner to Mara Bennett.

Inside, at booth six, sat Julian Vale.

He wore his charcoal suit, a pale scar visible along his jaw, reading a leather-bound book.

The bell above the door chimed, and Mara walked out from behind the counter, carrying a steaming white ceramic mug and a slice of fresh apple pie on a small plate.

She walked over to booth six and set the plate down with a familiar clatter.

Julian closed his book and looked up. A genuine, soft smile broke across his face—the smile Mara had fallen in love with before she even knew his name.

"Your usual," Mara said, leaning her hip against the edge of the booth, crossing her arms with a playful grin.

"You brought pie," Julian noted, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you said I never touch it."

"People change," Mara replied, sliding into the seat across from him. "Besides... you're paying for it now."

Julian chuckled, reaching across the table to gently wrap his fingers over hers. Their hands fit together naturally, as if they belonged there all along.

Outside, South Philadelphia hummed with its usual chaotic energy, but inside the Blue Lantern, the world was quiet, safe, and warm.

"Coffee?" Julian asked softly.

"Always," Mara smiled.
