Chapter 1 - THE BALCONY TRAP🔥 BREAKING: MAFIA BOSS RUNS INTO EXPLOSIVE BALCONY TRAP TO SAVE HIS DAUGHTER AFTER 14-YEAR BETRAYAL EXPOSED! 😱

The echoes of steel cuffs snapping around Evan Cross’s wrists were shattered by a deafening explosion upstairs.
The sub-basement shook. Dust and plaster rained down over Gabriel Rowan, Hannah Bennett, and the stunned Federal agents. Before the echoes of the blast even faded, a horrifying scream pierced through the settling dust—a child’s high-pitched cry that made Gabriel’s blood turn to ice.
"Maya!" Gabriel roared.
He didn't wait for the tactical squad. He vaulted up the service stairs three steps at a time, his heart hammering against his ribs like a sledgehammer. The smell of cordite and burning marble grew thicker with every floor. When he burst through the double doors leading onto the main terrace floor, his worst nightmare was waiting for him.
The heavy stone balustrade of the second-story balcony had been completely blown out from the inside. Cracks spider-webbed across the white limestone, and a gaping hole swallowed half the upper floor. Suspended over the sixty-foot drop to the stone courtyard below was four-year-old Maya Rowan, her tiny pink dress fluttering in the freezing Chicago wind.
The only thing keeping her from plunging to her death was her eight-year-old brother, Leo.
Leo was lying flat on his chest over the fractured ledge, his face contorted in agony, both hands locked around his little sister’s wrists. The stone beneath his elbows was crumbling. Small pebbles danced off the edge, dropping into the abyss.
"Hold on! Don’t let her go!" Gabriel screamed, sprinting frantically out onto the courtyard below, his tailored suit jacket flaring behind him.
"I've got you! Don't look down!" Leo gasped up on the ledge, his tiny muscles trembling under the crushing weight.
"Please... don't let me fall!" Maya sobbed, tears streaming down her pale cheeks as her small fingers slipped millimeter by millimeter against Leo’s sweat-slicked hands.
Gabriel reached the base of the mansion, positioning himself directly beneath the dangling child. His eyes locked onto his son. "Leo! Look at me! Stay still! I'm right here! I'm coming!"
"Take my other hand!" Leo screamed through grit teeth, straining with every ounce of strength in his young body as a massive section of the balustrade gave way with a sickening CRACK.
Gabriel lunged forward just as Maya slipped free. He threw his body into the air, catching her mid-fall against his chest and slamming hard onto the marble steps. He rolled instantly, shielding her fragile body with his own. Up above, Hannah Bennett threw herself over the broken balcony ledge, hauling Leo back to safety just before the remaining stone archway collapsed completely into rubble.
Gabriel lay on the cold stone, holding his trembling daughter against his chest. But as he looked up through the smoke, his eyes widened in sheer horror.

Evan Cross was gone.
Taking advantage of the explosive distraction he had planted weeks ago as a fail-safe, Evan had slipped his cuffs using a hidden key in his lapel and vanished through the secret escape tunnel beneath the study—carrying the black leather envelope containing the codes to Gabriel's entire financial syndicate.
