CHAPTER 3 – The Boy With the Broken Hands

That night, after everyone left, Evelyn found the teenage boy still standing alone in the dojo.
His name was Noah.
His hands were covered in old scars.
“I can’t be a legend,” he whispered. “I’m weak.”
Evelyn looked at his trembling fingers and said,
“No. You’re afraid of becoming strong.”
Before Noah could answer, the doors burst open.
The arrogant champion returned with three men in black suits.
Behind them stood Victor Kane, the owner of the city’s most brutal underground fight club.
Victor smiled coldly.
“Evelyn,” he said. “Forty years hiding as a janitor… and now you finally appear.”
The Grandmaster stepped forward, but Evelyn raised one hand.
Victor pointed at Noah.
“That boy belongs to me. His father owed me money.”
Noah turned pale.
Evelyn finally understood.
The scars on Noah’s hands weren’t from training.
They were from fighting to survive.
Victor laughed.
“Hand him over, old woman.”
Evelyn picked up her wooden staff.
For the first time, her gentle smile disappeared.
“You came into a house of discipline,” she said quietly, “and mistook kindness for weakness.”
Victor’s men charged.
In three seconds, all three were on the floor.
No shouting.
No wasted movement.
Just silence.
Victor’s face changed.
Then Evelyn leaned close and whispered,
“You should have stayed buried in the past.”
May you like
Because Victor Kane wasn’t just a criminal.
He was the student who betrayed her forty years ago.
