Daniel froze.
The blood drained from his face.

And now, Grant Hollis had just opened the backdoor.
Daniel didn’t hesitate. He slammed his hand onto the physical master-isolation toggle on his console and typed in his administrative override key—a digital signature baked so deep into Northstar’s root directory that not even the CEO could delete it without a physical hardware key.
Instantly, the Meridian data sweep slammed against a brick wall. The remote patch aborted.
Across the room, an emergency terminal flashed red.
Daniel leaned back, exhaling a long, slow breath. He reached for his phone to call Claire Weston’s office and explain why the migration had just hit a hard stop.
