Chapter 3 - The Ghost in the Ledger

The Price of ArroganceThe heavy iron gates of Hacienda Santa Cecilia groaned as six unmarked black federal SUVs breached the perimeter. The sirens weren't blaring, but the flashing red and blue lights cast an ominous glow over the thousands of white roses decorating the driveway.
Federal agents in tactical gear, accompanied by auditors from the SAT (Mexico's Internal Revenue Service), stepped out onto the cobblestones. The wealthy guests began to panic, clutching their designer bags and whispering frantically.
"Diego Corporate Holdings," the lead auditor announced, his voice amplified by a megaphone. "We have a warrant for the immediate seizure of all assets tied to Diego Silva and Isabella Valenzuela for international money laundering and tax evasion exceeding 400 million pesos."
Isabella screamed, grabbing her father, who had just rushed out from the front row. "Dad! Do something! Call the Minister! Call the Governor!"
Her father, an older man whose face was completely pale, looked at Alejandro Valenzuela with begging eyes. "Brother... please. Stop this. We are family!"
Alejandro finally spoke, his voice cold and unyielding. "Family? You and your daughter allowed this con man, Diego, to systematically siphon money out of our family foundation to fund his lavish lifestyle and this circus of a wedding. You thought you were burying the debt. But you forgot that Elena is the majority shareholder of the bank you borrowed from."
Diego backed away toward the edge of the altar, looking for an exit, but two federal agents immediately blocked his path. "Mr. Silva, do not move. You are under arrest."
Elena watched him, her expression completely detached. Five years of pain, five years of working eighteen-hour days while raising twins in a tiny apartment before her investments took off—all of it culminated in this single moment of absolute justice.
"Elena... please," Diego whimpered, his arrogance completely evaporating into pathetic desperation. He dropped to his knees right there on the altar, his white silk suit staining with the dirt and spilled champagne. "Think about the past! We loved each other! I made a mistake... I was pressured by the glitter of this world! Think of our children! They need a father!"
Mateo, the four-year-old boy, stepped forward. With a maturity far beyond his years, he looked at the man on his knees and said clearly, "Our mom is our father and our mother. You are just the man who left us on the street."
The crowd gasped. The raw, emotional weight of the boy's words hit Diego like a physical blow.
