Chapter 5 - THE BOARDROOM EXPOSE

Headline: "Live on Camera: The Arrogant CEO Stripped of His Fortune in Front of His Ultimate VIPs!"Before Ryan could formulate a response, the heavy glass doors of the lobby swung open once more. A flood of reporters, tipped off by an anonymous leak from Vance & Associates, poured into the room with flashes blinding the dark spaces and microphones extended.

"Mr. Caldwell! Is it true that the Grand Meridian was built on stolen blueprints?" "Mr. Caldwell, can you comment on the allegations of fraud and attempted murder against your father?" "Arthur Pendelton! Are you really the long-lost billionaire architect?"

Ryan tried to shield his face, stepping back into the security guards, but the guards deliberately stepped aside, leaving him exposed to the ruthless onslaught of the press.

"Get them out of here!" Ryan screamed at the receptionist. "Turn off the cameras! Clear the lobby!"

But no one moved to help him. The power dynamic had completely inverted. The staff realized that standing with Ryan Caldwell meant aligning themselves with a sinking ship tied to a historic crime.

Elizabeth Vance stepped forward, holding a microphone provided by a prominent news network.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," she announced clearly. "Today marks the end of the Caldwell Group’s illegal occupation of the Meridian estate. We are currently filing criminal charges against the estate of Thomas Caldwell and initiating an immediate asset-freeze against Ryan Caldwell for his complicity in laundering stolen corporate property."

Ryan felt his knees go weak. An asset freeze. Every bank account, every luxury penthouse, every sports car, every piece of designer clothing he owned—all of it was tied directly to the Caldwell Group’s corporate funds.

"You can't freeze my personal assets," Ryan gasped, his voice trembling frantically. "I have my own money! Independent investments!"

"Investments made with dividends derived from a stolen hotel," Elizabeth replied without an ounce of pity. "Every dollar you have ever spent, Mr. Caldwell, belongs to the victims of your father's fraud. The forensic accountants have already mapped your entire financial network. By noon today, your credit cards will be declined, your bank accounts locked, and your passport flagged."

Ryan looked at the crowd. The very people who had fawned over him minutes ago—the millionaires, the fashionistas, the corporate executives—were now looking at him like he was a contagious disease. They stepped away, murmuring in disgust, completely abandoning him.

Arthur Pendelton walked slowly over to the front desk. He looked at the young receptionist, who was trembling with anxiety. He gave her a warm, reassuring smile.

"Don't be frightened, my dear," the old man said gently. "Your job is entirely safe. In fact, under the new trust structure, your hourly wage will be doubled, and you will receive full health benefits starting tomorrow. The Grand Meridian will no longer be a place of exploitation."

The receptionist blinked, tears welling in her eyes. "Thank you... thank you, Mr. Pendelton."

Ryan watched this interaction, a horrifying realization dawning on him. He wasn't just losing his money. He was losing his identity. Without his wealth, without his title, without his ability to command fear and obedience, he was absolutely nothing. He was lesser than the vagrant he had tried to kick out just thirty minutes ago.
