CHAPTER 8 – "The Final Truth"

The entire prison fell into stunned silence.

The little girl stood in front of Ethan, her tiny body shielding him from Victor's soldiers.

Victor's confident smile disappeared.

"No..."

"That's impossible."

The little girl hugged her worn stuffed rabbit tighter.

"You thought you destroyed every Alpha."

"You missed one."

Ethan stared at her.

His heart pounded for reasons he couldn't explain.

"Who... are you?"

Tears filled the little girl's eyes.

"My name is Lily."

"Mom told me you'd remember me one day."

Before Ethan could speak, Isabella stepped forward, completely shocked.

"Lily..."

The little girl looked at her.

"Mom."

The entire prison gasped.

Ethan turned to Isabella.

"You have a daughter?"

She slowly nodded, tears streaming down her face.

"I didn't know..."

"I was pregnant before they captured me."

"They erased my memories after Lily was born."

"They told me she died."

Victor laughed coldly.

"I ordered that."

"But someone stole the baby before we could finish the experiment."

Eleanor stepped forward.

"I stole her."

Everyone turned toward Ethan's mother.

"I couldn't save all the children..."

"But I saved my granddaughter."

For years, Eleanor had hidden Lily in a remote mountain village under a false identity, waiting for the day Ethan would finally learn the truth.

Victor's expression twisted with rage.

"You ruined thirty years of work!"

He pulled a small black device from his pocket.

"If I can't control Alpha..."

"I'll erase Alpha."

Captain Ross immediately recognized the device.

"EMP Neuro Trigger..."

"It will destroy every implanted command chip."

"But anyone carrying one..."

"...will die instantly."

Ethan reached behind his ear.

The scar burned like fire.

So did Isabella's.

Several federal agents collapsed to their knees in agony.

Victor placed his thumb over the activation button.

"Goodbye, my greatest creation."

Just before he pressed it—

Lily held up her stuffed rabbit.

"No."

Victor laughed.

"Do you think a toy can stop me?"

Lily unzipped the rabbit's back.

Inside was another flash drive.

Eleanor smiled.

"I hid one final insurance policy."

Captain Ross inserted the drive into the military laptop.

Immediately, every monitor inside Blackridge Prison switched on.

Then...

Every television station.

Every phone.

Every government network.

Every social media platform across the country.

A live broadcast began automatically.

Millions of people watched as Victor confessed everything.

Project Phoenix.

Kidnapped children.

Illegal human experiments.

Government officials.

Judges.

Military officers.

Every crime had been secretly recorded by Victor himself as a safeguard against betrayal.

Now the entire world was watching.

Victor's face turned pale.

"No..."

"No!"

He slammed the activation button.

Nothing happened.

Captain Ross smiled.

"The trigger was disabled years ago."

"Eleanor replaced it with a fake."

Victor stumbled backward in disbelief.

"You..."

"You outplayed me?"

Eleanor nodded.

"I learned from the best monster."

Sirens echoed from every direction.

Military helicopters filled the sky.

This time, they weren't coming for Ethan.

They were coming for Victor.

Real federal investigators surrounded the prison.

Judge Halston dropped to his knees.

Victor tried to run.

Marcus Kane blocked his path.

"You've spent your whole life locking innocent people in cages."

Marcus smiled as prison guards handcuffed Victor.

"Now it's your turn."

Months later...

Every victim of Project Phoenix was officially cleared.

Judge Halston and dozens of powerful officials received life sentences.

Blackridge Prison was permanently shut down.

Marcus earned a reduced sentence after saving hundreds of lives during the siege.

Captain Ross retired as a national hero.

Isabella slowly rebuilt the years that had been stolen from her.

And Ethan...

For the first time in his life...

He wasn't a prisoner.

He wasn't an experiment.

He wasn't Subject Alpha-1.

He was simply a father.

One sunny afternoon, Lily slipped her tiny hand into Ethan's.

"Daddy..."

"Are there any more secrets?"

Ethan smiled for the first time in years.

"No."

"We're finally free."

But as the two walked away...

A classified file deep inside an abandoned government archive automatically unlocked.

Across the front, in bright red letters, were five chilling words:

PROJECT PHOENIX II – STATUS: ACTIVE

And beneath them...

One final sentence.

Subject Alpha-2 has escaped.

THE END... OR IS IT?
