Chapter 8 - FLAME AND FOUNDATIONThe demolition crews arrived on a crisp Tuesday morning just as the sun broke over the Tennessee horizon.

There was no hesitation this time. No complex strategies, no hidden surveillance monitors tracking every footstep. Just heavy yellow excavators, steel wrecking balls, and the deafening roar of progress wiping away the dark legacy of the Iron Cradle.

"Nothing like this," I said, turning to look at my daughters, whose bright, healthy laughter carried over the sound of the engines. "No iron bars. No hidden cameras. No walls high enough to keep out the people who actually care."

I turned back to Sarah, offering her a formal hand and a warm, genuine smile. "My corporate board needs a new director of community outreach and family welfare. A woman who knows how to spot details everyone else ignores. The salary is substantial, the benefits are excellent, and the kitchen pantry is always unlocked."
Sarah blinked in surprise, a bright, radiant smile breaking across her weathered face as she shook my hand firmly. "Deal, Mr. Alvarez."
