Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Showdown and the Unexpected Truth"Hello, Antoine," Elena said, her voice dripping with venomous sweetness as she walked forward into the halogen light. "It’s been a long time."

Antoine didn't blink. He stood completely still, his posture relaxed yet radiating lethal energy. "You should have stayed dead, Elena."

"And miss the destruction of your entire world?" Elena laughed, gesturing to the armed men surrounding them. "Drop your weapon, Antoine. Unless you want my men to call the extraction team back at your mansion and ensure your precious little triplets never see the sunrise."

Across the encrypted radio channel, Donovan’s voice crackled with absolute calm: "Boss... they walked right into the kill zone."

Before Elena could smile further, a deafening roar echoed across the river.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK.

Simultaneous sniper fire from the gantry above shattered the halogen lights plunging the pier into sudden, chaotic darkness. Sparks showered down as three of Elena’s mercenaries dropped their weapons and hit the concrete, neutralized with surgical precision by Donovan’s concealed squad.

Simultaneously, the heavy doors of the armored SUV parked two blocks away flew open.

I didn't stay inside. I had trained with Donovan’s security detail for the past two weeks for exactly this scenario. Pulling a compact sidearm from my holster, I sprinted from the vehicle toward the flank of the enemy formation, catching them completely by surprise.

"Drop your weapons!" I screamed, firing a warning shot that shattered the windshield of the lead SUV.

Elena’s mercenaries panicked, caught in a devastating crossfire between Antoine’s position and my flank. Within thirty seconds, the entire tactical unit was disarmed, pinned to the ground with Donovan’s men standing over them with drawn weapons.

Elena stared in absolute disbelief, her face turning pale as Antoine stepped through the smoke and wreckage, closing the distance between them until he towered over her.

"You underestimated us both, Elena," Antoine said coldly, motioning for Donovan to slap steel handcuffs around her wrists.

"You can't arrest me!" Elena shrieked, struggling against the cuffs as Mrs. Gable was tackled and restrained nearby. "The children aren't even yours, Antoine! Dela isn't a surrogate—she’s the rightful blood-heir to the entire Maro syndicate! Check the master DNA file! She’s my half-sister!"

The world seemed to stop spinning.

I froze, lowering my weapon slowly as the words echoed across the empty pier.

Antoine turned his head slowly, looking back at me standing beneath the flickering light of the rusted crane. His dark eyes softened, filled with a sudden, profound realization that bridged every missing piece of the puzzle.

"That’s why the hospital records were altered," Antoine murmured, walking toward me through the lingering smoke of the gunfight. "That’s why my children knew your heartbeat before they were even born. You weren't just a carrier, Dela... you are the rightful bloodline they tried to erase."

He stopped right in front of me, gently taking the gun from my hand and tossing it aside. His large, warm hands cupped my face, his thumb gently brushing away a smudge of soot from my cheek.

"Are you alright?" he whispered, his voice trembling with a vulnerability he showed to no one else in the world.

"I am now," I whispered back, letting out a breath I felt like I’d been holding for six months.

Three days later, the empire was officially restructured. The Maro syndicate was purged of its final corrupt shadows, leaving Antoine as the undisputed head, with me safely seated by his side not as a captive, nor a waitress, but as his absolute equal and the true matriarch of the estate.

Back at the mansion, the triplets were finally awake, their bright eyes wide and curious as they sat in their custom double stroller in the garden. As Antoine and I walked up the marble steps hand-in-hand, all three babies turned their heads simultaneously, reaching out their tiny hands toward us.

And this time, they didn't just say one word.

They laughed, shouting together in joyful unison:

"Mama! Papa!"

Antoine looked down at me, a rare, breathtaking smile breaking across his hardened face as he pulled me close against his side.

"Welcome home, Mrs. Maro," he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead as the New Orleans sun rose brightly over our new beginning.
