Chapter 4 - The Fall of the Matriarch

The sun was barely cresting the horizon when the second phase of our operation commenced.

Jocelyn Miller’s pride and joy was the St. Jude Community Outreach Center—a sprawling facility funded largely by wealthy donors whom she manipulated through guilt and religious fervor. She used the center as her personal kingdom, hosting lavish banquets while underpaying staff and turning away those who didn't fit her strict moral code.

What Jocelyn didn't know was that Vance Global Security had quietly purchased the underlying commercial mortgage on the property six months ago, using a shell corporation.

Wrapped in a plush cashmere robe, I sat in the back of a tinted bulletproof Mercedes parked across the street from the community center, watching through a high-definition tablet as a team of sheriffs and bailiffs marched up the front steps.

At 9:00 AM sharp, the heavy oak doors were chained shut, and a massive red FORECLOSURE & CONDEMNATION NOTICE was hammered into the front pillars.

Within minutes, Jocelyn’s silver Mercedes pulled into the empty parking lot. She hopped out, dressed in her Sunday-best lavender Chanel suit, her face contorted in absolute fury as she saw the notice.

I watched via a live drone feed as she sprinted toward the doors, banging her fists against the wood and screaming at the bailiffs.

“Do you know who I am?!” her shrill voice echoed through the audio feed on my tablet. “I am Sister Jocelyn Miller! This is God’s house! You cannot lock me out! Call the police commander right now—he’s personal friends with my son!”

A senior bailiff stepped forward, holding a clipboard with an expression of profound boredom.

“Mrs. Miller, by order of Vance Holdings and the State Circuit Court, this property is seized due to structural mortgage default and ongoing federal investigations into charity fraud. You have ten minutes to remove your personal belongings from the administrative office before federal marshals arrive to impound the contents.”

Jocelyn staggered backward as if she had been physically struck. Her face turned a chalky, sickly gray. “Vance... Vance Holdings? No... that’s impossible... that’s Elena’s family...”

She spun around, scanning the empty street as if she expected me to magically appear out of thin air. Her chest heaved, and for a terrifying second, I wondered if she was going to have a stroke right there on the pavement.

“Elena!” she shrieked into the empty air, her voice cracking with sheer hysteria. “Elena, you demonic witch! Show yourself! You can't do this to a Christian family! God will strike you down!”

I tapped the screen, muting the audio, and took a slow sip of my herbal tea.

“She’s losing her mind,” Julian remarked from the front seat, adjusting his cuffs. “The local news crews are arriving right now to capture her eviction live on morning television. By noon, her name will be synonymous with financial fraud across the entire state.”

“Let them watch,” I said coldly. “Let her experience just one fraction of the terror and helplessness she made me feel on that bathroom floor.”
