Chapter 8 - The True Heir of the CliffsThree days later, the rain had cleared, replaced by a brilliant autumn sun that cast long shadows across the city's financial district.

Maxwell Anderson sat not in his executive suite, but in a sunlit room at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Beside him, sitting up in a clean white bed and coloring with a brand-new box of crayons, was the little girl. Her fever had broken, and color had finally returned to her cheeks.
Her name was Lily Vance.
She wasn't just a beggar girl; she was the last living descendant of the family whose legacy had been stolen and buried by corporate greed. And according to the legal documents recovered from the old coastal estate, the entire Anderson grocery distribution network—every warehouse, store, and share—legally belonged to her.
The door opened softly, and a team of federal agents escorted Thomas out of the building in handcuffs, his expensive suit rumpled, his head bowed in absolute defeat.
Maxwell didn't watch him leave. Instead, he turned his attention back to Lily as she held up a clumsy, brightly colored drawing of a large white yacht sailing under a bright blue sky.
"Is this the big boat?" she asked, her eyes shining with innocence.

Maxwell smiled—a genuine, deep smile he hadn't felt in decades.
"It was," Maxwell said softly, gently taking the drawing from her small hands. "But I think it’s time we built something much better."
