Chapter 10 - The Melody That Never DiesThe grand concert hall at Lincoln Center was sold out three months in advance.

The stage was bathed in golden light, the acoustics tuned to absolute perfection. At the center of the stage sat a magnificent Steinway grand piano, its polished ebony surface reflecting the chandeliers overhead.

In the front row center box, Edward Haynes sat in a tailored tuxedo, flanked by two beautiful, bright-eyed young girls wearing matching cream dresses and pink ribbons in their hair.

Emily, now nine years old, sat tall and poised, holding a small silver program. Sophie, seven, leaned against her father’s shoulder, swinging her legs happily.

The auditorium doors opened, and a hush fell over the three thousand people in attendance.

Tonight was the premiere of Clara’s Sonata, a breathtaking, sorrowful, yet triumphant musical composition written entirely by Edward Haynes in honor of the woman who had saved his soul and given him everything that mattered.

As the guest pianist walked out onto the stage—a brilliant young prodigy sponsored by the Clara Vance Foundation—the audience erupted into thunderous applause.

Edward looked down at his daughters.

Sophie looked up at him, her blue eyes shining with absolute trust. "Daddy, do you think Mommy is listening?"

Edward wrapped his strong arms around both of them, pulling them close against his heart, feeling the steady, beautiful rhythm of their lives beating in time with his own.

"Always, my loves," Edward whispered, his voice steady and full of eternal peace. "Always."

The first notes of the piano drifted across the hall, pure and clear, filling the vast space with a melody that would echo through the generations—a promise kept, a family restored, and a love that death could never silence.
