Chapter 7 - The Trap SpringsViktor’s face drained of color. The smooth, arrogant composure shattered instantly, replaced by a look of pure, murderous shock.

"What... what is this?" Viktor snarled, grabbing the phone off the table and staring at the flashing red error codes. "What did you do?!"

"What I’ve been doing for the last three years, Viktor," David said, leaning back in his chair and crossing his legs with absolute nonchalance. "Hunting your phantom network down, node by node, account by account."

Viktor whipped his head up, his eyes blazing with fury. He reached inside his tailored jacket, his hand flashing toward a concealed shoulder holster. "I'll kill you right here, you arrogant—"

CLACK-CLACK.

The sound of multiple firearm bolts snapping into battery echoed simultaneously from every corner of the boardroom.

Before Viktor’s hand could even clear his jacket, the side doors burst open. Six heavily armed tactical operators in matte-black Vanguard combat gear flooded the room, their assault rifles leveled dead-center at Viktor and his two bodyguards.

Simultaneously, the main glass double doors swung open, revealing two FBI special agents in tactical windbreakers, flanked by local federal marshals.

"FBI! Don't move! Drop your weapons!" roared the lead agent, stepping into the room with his badge held high.

Viktor’s bodyguards instantly froze, their hands hovering in the air before slowly sliding away from their concealed weapons. Viktor himself stood frozen, his chest heaving, his eyes darting frantically toward the doors, only to realize every exit was completely blocked.

"Viktor Kovalev," the FBI agent said, stepping up to the syndicate boss and slapping steel handcuffs onto his wrists with a sharp, metallic click. "You are under federal arrest for international racketeering, money laundering, and conspiracy against the United States."

As Viktor was violently shoved down onto the carpet, his eyes locked onto me one last time, filled with a venomous, murderous hatred.

"You think this is over?!" Viktor screamed as the federal agents dragged him toward the door. "Your son is still out there! He knows where you live! He’ll bleed you dry before the sun goes down!"

"My son," I said quietly, standing up from my chair and looking down at the man who had tried to destroy my family, "is your problem now. Enjoy sharing a cell."

The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind them, taking the syndicate boss and his terror out of the room forever.

The boardroom was left in a stunned, breathless silence.

Arthur Sterling and Linda Vance sat frozen in their chairs, staring at the empty doorway in utter horror, realizing that their protection, their bribes, and their futures had just evaporated into thin air.

Mr. Graves cleared his throat loudly, breaking the spell.

He turned toward the terrified, pale-faced board members and slid a new set of documents across the table.

"Now that the trash has been cleared," Mr. Graves announced, his voice ringing with absolute authority, "we will proceed with the emergency corporate restructuring vote. All in favor of appointing David Sterling as Chief Executive Officer of Whitmore Logistics... raise your hands."

Every single surviving board member—desperate, broken, and terrified of federal prosecution—instantly raised their hands without a single word of hesitation.
