Chapter 10 - THE NEW BEGINNINGA year later.

Mom finally got the promotion—not because of Marilyn’s failure, but because she proved her loyalty to the mall’s owners by helping the police take down the smuggling ring. We moved into a house with a garden, a place where I didn't have to hide anymore.

I walked into the living room to find Mom laughing—a real, genuine sound. I looked at the math textbook on my desk. I wasn't afraid of the test anymore. I had learned the most important lesson of all: sometimes, the scariest problems in life don't have a single correct answer, but if you look closely enough at the details, you can always find the truth.
