Chapter 3 - THE MISSING POUCHThe officer lifted the beige coat, shook it, and patted the pockets. Nothing. He moved to the nightstand, then the closet. I felt a surge of relief so powerful I nearly fainted. He came back out, looking at his partner. "Clean. The tip was a bust."

Mom looked at them, bewildered. "What was supposed to be in there?"
The officer hesitated. "Expensive diamonds from the display case you manage, Ms. Harlow. Someone said you were seen putting them in your pocket."
Mom turned pale. She looked at me, then at the door. "My sister," she whispered. "Marilyn was here earlier."
