Vincent Hale rushed into the study, looking paler than usual, clutching a decrypted ledger.
“Boss, we have a breach,” Vincent said frantically, stopping short when he saw Evelyn standing beside Dominic. “The shipment at the northern docks—it’s been ambushed. And... and the security codes match the ones only accessible to the inner council.”
Dominic’s eyes never left Evelyn’s face.
“Who?” Dominic asked, his voice dropping into an ice-cold register.
“It was... it was Marcus,” Vincent breathed out, naming Dominic’s most trusted senior lieutenant. “He’s working with Blackwood. He’s heading toward the private airstrip right now.”
Dominic didn’t hesitate. He pulled the 9mm pistol from beneath his desk, checking the clip with mechanical precision.
“Lock down the estate,” Dominic ordered, his gaze shifting back to Evelyn. Then, to Vincent’s utter astonishment, Dominic looked down at the floor, reached out, and pulled a heavy chair right beside Evelyn.
He didn't just speak to her; he dropped to one knee, looking up at her face with an intensity that left no room for argument.
“You want Blackwood?” Dominic asked, his voice raw and absolute. “You want the men who destroyed your life and put my brother in that chair?”
Evelyn looked down at the ruthless mafia don kneeling in his own house, stripped of all pretense, offering an alliance built not on fear, but on shared vengeance.

“Show me the armory, Mr. Moretti,” Evelyn said, her voice dropping all civilian pretense, revealing the brilliant, cold strategist underneath. “And let’s go take your empire back.”
