Marco stared at the wolf charm on the table, his jaw tightening. Then, slowly, a cold, humorless chuckle escaped his lips. He didn't reach for the charm. Instead, his hand slid toward the concealed holster beneath his suit jacket.
“So,” Marco smiled, his eyes turning hard and venomous. “The brat dropped her toy in the batter, and you found it. I always said kids were a liability.”
“You killed them,” Alessandro said. His voice wasn’t loud. It was the terrifying whisper of an avalanche before it buries a mountain. “You poisoned my wife and my daughter. Why, Marco?”
“Why?!” Marco snapped, abandoning all pretense of loyalty as he whipped his pistol out and aimed it straight at Alessandro’s chest. “Because you were going soft, Alessandro! You wanted to legitimize the syndicate, cut ties with the European syndicates, and turn our empire into a charity fund! You had a wife who whispered peace in your ear and a daughter who made you forget what blood we were built on!”

Marco’s finger tightened on the trigger, his breathing ragged with years of suppressed jealousy and ambition.
“I gave you three years of brotherhood,” Marco snarled. “I stood beside you at their graves. And now... I’ll give you a front-row seat to join them.”
