CHAPTER 4: THE WOMAN WHO WAS FRAMED BY HER OWN BLOOD

The room went completely silent.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
The note was still lying on the table.
Five words.
Five terrifying words.
"Trust no one. Not even family."
And beneath them…
A name.
Camila Serrano.
Camila stared at the paper as if it belonged to someone else.
"No."
Her voice was barely a whisper.
"No, that’s impossible."
Her father stepped backward.
His face had lost all color.
"C-Camila..."
"Dad, you don't believe this, do you?"
But Don Julián didn't answer.
And that silence hurt more than the accusation itself.
For the first time in her life…
Her own father looked at her with doubt.
Mauricio immediately stepped between them.
"Wait."
Everyone looked at him.
"This doesn't make sense."
Camila looked at him.
"You think I did this?"
"No."
His answer came instantly.
"I know you."
For a moment, Camila saw the man she had loved.
The man who believed in her.
But then Sofía picked up the note carefully.
"Nobody said she did it."
She examined the handwriting.
"This could be a setup."
Camila looked at her.
"Then why write my name?"
Sofía didn't respond.
Because that was the question everyone was thinking.
Why her?
Why would someone frame Camila?
They opened the USB drive.
At first, there was only one video file.
The date was from fifteen years earlier.
Don Julián pressed play.
The screen showed an old office.
A younger version of him was sitting at a desk.
Across from him was another man.
A man Camila had never seen before.
The stranger placed several documents on the table.
"Mr. Serrano, you need to understand something."
"What?"
"The people you're investigating are not afraid of losing money."
The man leaned forward.
"They're afraid of losing their freedom."
Young Julián looked nervous.
"I have proof."
The stranger shook his head.
"Then hide it somewhere nobody would ever search."
"Where?"
The man smiled.
"Somewhere they would never dare to destroy."
The video ended.
Camila looked confused.
"Who was that man?"
Her father closed his eyes.
"His name was Arturo Mendoza."
"Was?"
"He was killed two days after that meeting."
Everyone became silent.
Killed.
Not an accident.
Not a coincidence.
Killed.
Mauricio looked at the USB.
"This means your father wasn't just investigating them."
"He was building a case."
Sofía nodded.
"And someone spent twenty years trying to find the evidence."
Suddenly, Camila's phone rang.
Unknown number.
Everyone looked at her.
She answered.
"Hello?"
For several seconds, there was only silence.
Then a distorted voice spoke.
"You found it."
Camila froze.
"Who is this?"
"You should have left your parents on that street."
Her blood ran cold.
"What do you want?"
A quiet laugh.
"Your father stole something that belonged to us."
"My father saved people's homes."
"No."
The voice became colder.
"He destroyed our family."
Camila looked at Mauricio.
Then at Sofía.
"Who are you?"
The person on the phone whispered:
"The person who knows the truth about you."
Then the call ended.
That night, nobody slept.
They moved Camila's parents to another location.
They changed phones.
They avoided cameras.
But danger was already closer than they realized.
At midnight…
Someone entered the hotel room where Camila's parents had been staying.
The door opened silently.
A shadow walked inside.
The person searched through drawers.
Under the mattress.
Inside bags.
Looking for something.
Then they stopped.
Because on the table…
Was a photograph.
A photograph of Camila and Mauricio.
The intruder picked it up.
Turned it around.
And smiled.
"Finally."
The next morning, Camila received a message.
A picture.
Her blood froze.
It was the intruder from the hotel.
But the shocking part wasn't the break-in.
It was the face.
Because she knew this person.
She had seen them hundreds of times.
At family dinners.
At holidays.
At celebrations.
The person closest to her.
The person who always pretended to care.
The message below said:
"Ask your husband why he never told you who your real father is."
Camila dropped the phone.
"What does this mean?"
Mauricio looked terrified.
"Camila..."
She turned toward him.
"What are you hiding?"
He said nothing.
And that was the answer.
There was another secret.
A bigger one.
One that had nothing to do with Rebeca.
Nothing to do with the house.
Nothing to do with money.
It was about Camila herself.
Hours later, Mauricio finally told her.
The truth he had kept buried.
"The man who raised you..."
He struggled to speak.
"Don Julián..."
Camila's eyes filled with confusion.
"What about him?"
Mauricio swallowed.
"He knew you weren't his biological daughter."
The world stopped.
The rain outside became louder.
Camila couldn't breathe.
"No."
Mauricio looked away.
"I'm sorry."
"My father?"
"He loved you more than anyone."
"Then why hide it?"
Mauricio looked at her.
"Because twenty-eight years ago, someone tried to kill your real father."
Camila felt dizzy.
"And who was he?"
Mauricio hesitated.
Then whispered:
"The founder of the company that Rebeca and Octavio stole everything from."
Camila stepped backward.
The woman who had been attacked…
The family that had been destroyed…
The house everyone wanted…
It was all connected to her.
Because Camila Serrano wasn't just the daughter of a witness.
She was the last living connection to a fortune someone had stolen decades ago.
And suddenly, the biggest question was no longer:
"Who is trying to destroy Camila?"
The question was:
"Who has been protecting Camila's identity all these years?"
Because the answer was hidden in one final document…
May you like
A birth certificate that had never been supposed to exist.
