Silas Marino bent down. / Chapter 6 / 6

Chapter 6 - The Fall of Graham VossTen minutes later, Graham Voss was dragged up from the sub-basement into the grand foyer of the Marino estate.

The mansion was swarming with loyal security teams who had finally bypassed the internal server lockout. Leading them was Grant, Silas’s veteran chief of security, who looked ready to commit murder for what had been pulled under his watch.

Graham, bound in the exact same blue industrial cord he had intended for Silas, was shoved onto his knees before the grand staircase.

Silas walked down the steps. He wasn't wearing a paper crown anymore, but the cold, untouchable authority radiating from him made every man in the room hold his breath.

“Graham,” Silas said softly, stopping two feet away. “You forgot one crucial rule when you tried to take over my house.”

Graham stared up, pale and trembling. “What’s that?”

“You can disable cameras, you can bribe guards, and you can forge papers,” Silas replied, his voice dropping into a lethal whisper. “But you never, ever underestimate a three-year-old with pink scissors.”

He gestured to Grant. “Take him to the river warehouse. Let him think about corporate restructuring while he cleans the floors.”

As Graham was dragged screaming out the front doors, Silas turned back to find Mara standing near the hallway with her arms crossed, watching him with a mixture of relief and exhaustion.

Silas walked over to her, gently setting Poppy down on her feet. He looked at Mara, the hardened walls of his empire melting away into something entirely human.

“You saved my life tonight, Mara,” Silas said, his voice thick with a gratitude he rarely showed anyone. “Both of you.”

Mara gave a small, tired smile. “Well, Mr. Marino... someone had to make sure the king got his crown back.”
