Chapter 2: The Woman Who Was Supposed to Be Dead

Harrison Black stared at the photograph as if it had been pulled from a grave.

The woman beside him had soft brown eyes, a shy smile, and one hand resting on her stomach.

Her name was Elena.

And to the world…

Elena Black had died eight years ago.

The billionaire took one step closer.

“Where did you get this?” he asked, his voice almost breaking.

The little boy held the photo tighter.

“My mother gave it to me.”

Harrison froze.

“Your… mother?”

The boy nodded.

“She said if anything ever happened to her, I had to bring this money back to you.”

The lobby fell so silent that the ticking clock above the reception desk sounded like thunder.

Harrison looked at the boy’s face.

The gray eyes.

The sharp jawline.

The same small birthmark under the left eye.

His breath caught.

“What is your name?”

The boy lifted his chin.

“Ethan.”

Harrison’s knees nearly gave out.

Years ago, Elena had vanished after a terrible car crash.

The police found blood.

A burned vehicle.

A wedding ring.

But no body.

Harrison had buried an empty coffin and locked away his grief behind money, power, and silence.

Now a child stood in front of him…

Carrying a fortune.

And wearing his face.

Harrison whispered,

“How old are you?”

“Seven.”

A security guard slowly lowered his radio.

The receptionist covered her mouth.

Harrison looked at the duffel bag.

“Why did your mother have this money?”

Ethan’s expression changed.

For the first time, fear crossed his eyes.

“She said it was payment.”

“Payment for what?”

Ethan’s little fingers trembled.

“For staying dead.”

Harrison’s entire body went cold.

Before he could speak, the lobby doors burst open.

Three men in black suits entered.

Not police.

Not security.

They moved too calmly.

Too confidently.

One of them smiled when he saw Ethan.

“There you are, kid.”

Harrison immediately stepped in front of the boy.

“Who are you?”

The man’s smile widened.

“Someone who came to collect what belongs to us.”

Ethan hid behind Harrison and whispered,

“Mom said never go with them.”

Harrison’s face hardened.

For years, people feared his money.

His power.

His name.

But now they were about to learn something else.

A billionaire could lose everything.

A father could not.

Harrison looked at his security team and said only one word.

“Lockdown.”

The steel doors sealed.

The elevators froze.

The entire building went into emergency mode.

The man in the black suit stopped smiling.

Harrison turned to Ethan.

“Tell me where your mother is.”

Ethan’s eyes filled with tears.

“She’s in danger.”

Then he pulled a folded paper from his pocket.

On it were only three words:

Trust no one.

And underneath…

May you like

Was the signature of Harrison’s own brother.

To be continued…
