Chapter 4: The Flash Drive That Changed Everything

Harrison Black stared at the tiny silver flash drive lying in Ethan's trembling hand.

It looked ordinary.

Cheap.

Almost worthless.

Yet somehow...

It carried enough weight to make one of the richest men in America afraid.

His phone buzzed again.

Another anonymous message.

DON'T WATCH IT ALONE.

Harrison's jaw tightened.

"Whoever is sending these messages knows exactly what's on this drive."

Ethan looked toward the locked office door.

"They've always known."

The billionaire slowly walked to his private desk.

Inside the top drawer sat a custom-built laptop—one that had never been connected to the internet.

No hackers.

No spyware.

Only him.

He inserted the flash drive.

For a brief second...

Nothing happened.

Then a single folder appeared.

BLACKSTONE PROJECT

There were dozens of video files.

The oldest was dated...

August 14th. Eight years ago.

The exact day Elena had supposedly died.

Harrison clicked PLAY.

Static filled the screen.

Then the image sharpened.

It showed a dimly lit conference room.

Hidden camera footage.

Six men sat around a polished oak table.

Harrison immediately recognized every face.

His chief lawyer.

His chief financial officer.

His head of security.

Nathan.

And...

Himself.

"What is this?" Harrison whispered.

"I don't remember this meeting."

Ethan quietly answered,

"My mom said you were never supposed to."

The video continued.

Everyone remained silent until Nathan slid a thick folder across the table.

Inside were photographs.

Bank transfers.

Birth certificates.

Confidential contracts.

Nathan smiled.

"If Harrison ever discovers the truth..."

"...everything we've built disappears."

The younger Harrison on the screen frowned.

"The truth about what?"

Nathan leaned closer.

"The child."

Harrison's breathing stopped.

The room in the video went completely silent.

Then someone asked,

"What if Elena refuses?"

Nathan answered without hesitation.

"Then she'll disappear."

Harrison's hands began shaking violently.

"No..."

"That's impossible."

He remembered nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

He fast-forwarded.

Another clip.

Another meeting.

This time...

His own signature appeared on several legal documents.

Documents authorizing a payment of...

Twenty-five million dollars.

Recipient:

Eleanor Hayes.

Purpose:

Permanent relocation.

Harrison frowned.

"I've never heard that name before."

Ethan slowly reached into his pocket.

"My mom's real name wasn't Elena."

Harrison turned.

"What?"

"She changed it."

"Why?"

"So nobody could find us."

He unfolded an old newspaper clipping.

Across the top was a smiling photo of a much younger woman.

The headline read:

LOCAL JOURNALIST VANISHES AFTER CORPORATE CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION

Name:

Eleanor Hayes.

Harrison's heart nearly stopped.

She hadn't been his wife when they first met.

She had been investigating his company.

Before he could process the revelation...

The office lights suddenly went dark.

Every screen shut off.

The laptop died.

The emergency generator failed.

Complete darkness.

Only the city lights outside illuminated the room.

Then...

A slow knock echoed against the reinforced office door.

Three knocks.

Silence.

Three more.

Harrison instinctively stepped in front of Ethan.

"Who's there?"

A calm female voice answered from the hallway.

"I don't have much time."

"You need to leave."

Harrison froze.

That voice...

Even after eight years...

He would have recognized it anywhere.

It was Elena.

Or rather...

Eleanor Hayes.

He rushed toward the door.

"Eleanor!"

No answer.

He unlocked the steel door and pulled it open.

The hallway was completely empty.

Not a single person.

Only one object rested on the carpet.

A white envelope.

Inside was a fresh photograph.

It had clearly been taken only minutes earlier.

The picture showed Harrison's office from outside the building.

Someone had been watching them the entire time.

Written across the back in red ink were eight terrifying words:

"The boy isn't your only son, Harrison."

Harrison looked down at Ethan.

Then back at the photograph.

For the first time in his life...

The billionaire realized he wasn't fighting to uncover one secret.

May you like

He was about to discover an entire family that had been stolen from him.
