Chapter 9 - THE AFTERMATH IN GUADALAJARABy noon, the news had completely paralyzed Guadalajara.

Every major television network, newspaper, and social media platform was broadcasting the shocking dawn raid on the Alcázar Group’s downtown headquarters. Financial analysts scrambled to report on the sudden freezing of billions of pesos in assets, while feminist organizations and civic groups gathered outside the state courthouse in celebration.
Inside the federal prosecutor's office, Teresa and Valeria sat across a polished mahogany desk from General Commander Rosas and Judge Garza.
"The preliminary audit of the USB drive confirms everything," Rosas said, sliding a thick manila folder across the table. "Every shell company, every diverted municipal fund, and every illegal transfer linked to the foundation Rodrigo used as a front. He won't see daylight for the next thirty years."
Valeria opened the folder. Inside was a certified copy of the protection order, alongside a preliminary settlement seizing the entirety of Rodrigo’s personal assets to fund independent shelters for victims of domestic abuse across Jalisco.
"Thank you, Judge. Thank you, Commander," Valeria whispered, a tear finally slipping down her cheek—not of fear, but of profound, unburdened release.
"Don't thank us, mija," Garza smiled softly. "Thank your mother. She taught me that no matter how powerful a monster thinks he is, a retired homicide detective with a grudge is a force of nature."

Teresa simply smiled, reaching across the table to squeeze her daughter’s hand.
"Come on," Teresa said, standing up and buttoning her jacket. "Let's go home. This time, we don't need to lock the doors."
