Chapter 8 - A NEW DAWN

Three days later, the Vance estate looked entirely different.
The oppressive gray curtains in the formal living room had been replaced with sheer white fabrics, letting the bright, golden afternoon sunlight flood every corner of the house. The air no longer felt heavy; it felt crisp, alive, and clean.
In the third-floor art studio, a brand-new canvas sat proudly on Daniela’s easel. It wasn't a night-cereus flower this time; it was a vibrant, sprawling portrait of a phoenix rising from a bed of dark, shattered charcoal, its wings painted in brilliant strokes of gold and crimson.
Mr. Vance stood quietly in the doorway, a cup of coffee in his hand, watching his daughter work with a steady, confident hand. Next to him, Rosa walked by carrying a tray of fresh pastries, offering a warm, genuine smile that reached her eyes for the first time in months.
"Dad," Daniela said without turning around, her brush gliding smoothly across the canvas. "You don't have to stand guard at the door anymore. We're safe now."
Mr. Vance smiled—a real, unburdened smile that he hadn't felt in years. He took a sip of his coffee, walked into the room, and sat down on the old wooden stool beside his daughter.

"I know, sweetie," he replied softly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I'm not standing guard. I'm just finally here."
Downstairs, the front gates of the estate swung open to receive the afternoon mail, but inside the walls of the Vance home, the shadows had been completely swept away, leaving behind a fortress built not on fear and blind trust, but on truth, resilience, and unconditional love.
