Chapter 3 - The Bookstore of Lost ThingsThe terminal bookstore was tucked away in a quiet corner of the departure wing—a place that seemed to exist outside of the frantic airport pace. Noah walked toward it, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird.

He saw her through the glass.

Grace.

She hadn't changed as much as he had feared. She was still beautiful, but there was a fragility to her now, a quietness that hadn't been there when they were young and hungry in a small apartment. She was stocking shelves, her movements slow, her eyes weary.

Noah pushed the door open. The chime above the door sounded like a death knell.

Grace turned. Her hand flew to her throat, her eyes widening in disbelief, then horror. She dropped a stack of books, the sound crashing through the quiet store.

"Noah?" she whispered, the name sounding like a curse. "How... how did you find us?"

"I didn't find you," Noah said, his voice raw. "I found her. I found us."
