Chapter 6 - THE BOARDROOM SHOWDOWN AT NOONThe grand mahogany boardroom of Croft Global Enterprises smelled of aged leather, expensive espresso, and impending corporate execution.

Seated at the head of the long table was Uncle Edmund, immaculate in a bespoke charcoal suit, his right arm resting dramatically in a black silk sling, looking every bit the grieving, injured uncle seeking justice for a neglected child. Around the table sat the six senior trustees, whispering among themselves with solemn, disapproving expressions.
"Gentlemen," Edmund began, clearing his throat with practiced theatrical sorrow. "We are here today to discuss a grave matter. My nephew Finn’s safety is being compromised by Julian’s reckless insistence on keeping a volatile, aggressive animal on the premises. As we all know from the incident report—and my own physical injury—the dog attacked me unprovoked yesterday morning. Therefore, I move for the immediate invocation of emergency joint guardianship—"
The heavy oak double doors of the boardroom suddenly burst open with a resounding bang that rattled the crystal water pitchers.
Julian Croft walked in. He wasn't alone.
Beside him walked Naomi Hart, carrying a secure digital display unit. And trotting calmly at Julian’s heel, wearing a polished leather harness and looking completely serene, was Briar the Labrador.
"You cannot bring that beast in here!" Edmund stood up, his face flushing a mottled red as he pointed his uninjured hand accusingly. "It is a hazard! It is legally condemned!"

"Sit down, Edmund," Julian murmured softly, his voice cutting through the room like a razor. "We haven't even started the presentation yet."
Julian took his seat at the center of the table, connected Naomi’s digital display unit to the master overhead projector, and pressed play.
