CHAPTER 1 – The Wedding That Should Never Have Happened
The cathedral was packed.
Hundreds of guests sat in silence, admiring the breathtaking bride as she slowly walked down the aisle. Crystal chandeliers shimmered above, cameras flashed from every direction, and everyone believed they were about to witness the wedding of the year.
But no one noticed the fear hidden behind the bride's smile.
Her name was Elena.
For weeks, she'd been haunted by strange dreams—dreams of burning wings, whispers in an ancient language, and a mysterious woman who always repeated the same warning.
"Do not let him place the ring on your finger."
She dismissed them as nightmares.
Until the morning of her wedding.
While getting dressed, Elena caught sight of something impossible in the mirror.
Just below her collarbone was a tiny golden mark.
It looked like the outline of a bird with its wings spread wide.
She tried to wipe it away.
It wouldn't disappear.
Instead...
It slowly began to glow.
Her maid assumed it was an allergic reaction.
The makeup artist covered it with foundation.
For a moment, everything looked normal.
Then the ceremony began.
As Elena stepped toward the altar, the glowing sensation returned.
Each step made the mark brighter beneath the makeup.
Across the aisle, her groom, Adrian, smiled confidently.
To everyone else, he was perfect.
Handsome.
Successful.
Generous.
But hidden beneath that charming smile was a secret no one could imagine.
He wasn't marrying Elena because he loved her.
He needed her.
Or more specifically...
He needed what was sleeping inside her.
When the priest asked them to join hands, Elena suddenly felt a violent pain explode across her chest.
She gasped.
The makeup cracked.
Golden light escaped through the foundation.
Guests stared in confusion.
Then...
The lights inside the cathedral flickered.
Candles extinguished themselves.
Every stained-glass window trembled.
Someone screamed.
And Elena heard the mysterious voice again.
Louder than ever.
"RUN BEFORE HE CLAIMS YOUR SOUL."
