CHAPTER 8 – The Queen of Fire and the Final Betrayal

"The True Phoenix Queen has finally awakened."
The voice thundered across the heavens.
Golden wings stretched behind Elena, reaching nearly thirty feet across the ruined cathedral.
Every feather burned with living fire.
The ground beneath her feet cracked.
The Gate of Ashes trembled.
For the first time in over five hundred years...
The King Beyond Death took a step backward.
"No..."
His deep voice shook with fear.
"She wasn't supposed to awaken."
Elena slowly opened her eyes.
They no longer shone green.
They burned like molten gold.
She looked down at Selene, who lay motionless in her arms.
Tears rolled down Elena's face.
"You promised we'd find each other..."
"So don't leave me now."
A single tear fell onto Selene's forehead.
The moment it touched her skin...
The impossible happened.
The Phoenix tear burst into brilliant flames.
Not flames that destroyed.
Flames that healed.
The wound in Selene's chest slowly closed.
Color returned to her face.
Her heart beat once.
Then again.
Adrian stared in disbelief.
"The Phoenix Tear..."
"No one has seen that power for a thousand years."
The freed ghost brides smiled through their tears.
"Our Queen has returned."
The King Beyond Death roared with rage.
"I WILL NOT BE DENIED!"
He burst through the Gate of Ashes, revealing his true form.
A towering giant clad in black armor forged from the souls of millions.
His sword was larger than a castle tower.
With one swing, mountains could fall.
He raised the blade toward Elena.
"Die!"
The sword crashed downward.
BOOM!
A blinding explosion shook the earth.
When the smoke cleared...
Everyone gasped.
Elena had stopped the sword with one hand.
She didn't even move.
The King's eyes widened.
"Impossible..."
Elena spoke calmly.
"You ruled through fear."
"You fed on grief."
"You stole innocent lives."
She looked directly into his burning eyes.
"Your reign ends today."
With a single wave of her hand, rivers of golden fire wrapped around the King's body.
His armor began melting.
The screaming souls trapped inside it escaped one after another, rising into the sky as glowing lights.
Thousands...
Then millions.
The cathedral filled with peaceful voices instead of screams.
The King Beyond Death collapsed to his knees.
His body began turning to ash.
"No..."
"I am eternal..."
Elena stepped closer.
"No."
"You were only remembered."
She placed her glowing hand on his forehead.
The ancient curse shattered.
The King dissolved into golden dust that disappeared into the wind.
The Gate of Ashes crumbled into nothingness.
Silence returned.
The nightmare was finally over.
Selene slowly opened her eyes.
She smiled weakly.
"You... saved me."
Elena laughed through her tears and hugged her sister tightly.
"I told you..."
"I'd find you."
The ghost brides bowed before the two sisters before fading peacefully into the light.
Even Adrian lay broken on the cathedral floor.
His ancient scroll had turned to ashes.
His powers were gone.
He reached toward Elena.
"Please..."
"I was manipulated..."
"I can change..."
Elena looked at him without anger.
Without hatred.
Only disappointment.
"You never wanted love."
"You only wanted power."
She turned away.
As the first rays of sunrise entered the ruined cathedral, Adrian's body rapidly aged.
His black hair turned white.
His skin wrinkled.
Within seconds, he became a frail old man before crumbling into dust.
Everyone believed the story had finally ended.
But as Elena and Selene walked out of the cathedral together...
Their grandmother suddenly stopped.
Her face turned pale.
She looked toward the horizon.
Far beyond the mountains...
A second Phoenix symbol appeared in the sky.
It was black.
Not gold.
The old woman whispered in horror,
"No..."
"There was never just one Phoenix bloodline."
A cold female voice echoed across the world.
"The Dark Phoenix has awakened."
And somewhere in the shadows...
A mysterious woman slowly opened her glowing black eyes.
She smiled.
"Now..."
May you like
"My hunt begins."
THE END... OR IS IT?
